You Might Be Slightly Overscheduled When...

Friday, August 09, 2013

For dinner, you find yourself at a gas station convenience store, eating an all-beef hotdog, a bowl of chili and bottled orange juice, using the hood of your truck as a table!

Yep, that was me this evening--and truth be told, I was relieved to have time to eat dinner. I'd been working since 6:30am on one project before scarfing a granola bar and banana, and going to a part-time temp job for the afternoon. I changed clothes, dashed out of work a few minutes early, stopped into a copy-shop, then headed to an early evening meeting.

Amazingly, I landed right in the middle of my calorie range today. I even had 5 or 6 servings of fruit, although no veggies to speak of.

Sometimes we just do what we must. And then make plans to do better.

So on Friday, I will make time to go to the grocery store and stock up on nutritious foods that I can take with me on hectic days--more fruit, but also baby carrots, radishes and celery, whole wheat crackers, yogurt, almonds and string cheese. I'll make several sandwiches ahead of time. I'll create my own healthy convenience store.

Because an even crazier weekend looms...and I plan to be prepared!

You are doing it right! It's so hard to take on more and adjust a routine! Soon you will balance it all! Fuel up and rest too! You are a very hard worker and you should be very proud of yourself for being so responsible!

Creating your own healthy convenience store!! What a fantastic idea!!

I used to do that for the boys when they were younger to ensure that they packed a healthy lunch as they wanted to make there own choices, but got away from it and kinda forgot about it now.

I used to cut up carrots, red, yellow, orange and green peppers, celery and put them on it little snack sized baggies. I did the same with cheese, kielbasa or klobasa and crackers. Little baggies of trail mix.

I would prepare them all on the weekend and then the boys could grab whatever they felt like taking on there lunch each day.

I should get back to this idea for myself!

Thanks for reminding me of what a terrific idea this is!!

I actually have four jobs at the moment--self-employed at two, sporadic hours at another. Cash flow issues are inevitable, so every now and then I take on a temp job to clear the hurdle. Not complaining--I can't even imagine how most moms and dads juggle it all!

Wow, sorry to hear you are super-busy, but better to have two jobs then no job. The great thing is, you got a plan in place, so you'll be able to handle whatever life throws at you over the weekend.
