I don't know if the title to this post is a quote from a diet guru somewhere, but a friend sent it to me in a text today at exactly the right time. After a stressful morning, I was sitting in a restaurant trying to figure out what to eat and slowly giving way to thoughts of "Ok, I'll just have a pastrami sandwich. Sodium and fat and cholesterol be damned." But, there was an option for half sandwiches and a salad and right after I told the waitress I'd have half a roast beef (I know...still red meat) with no mayo and a green salad, my friend sent the text. It made me feel so much better about my choice that I was able to focus on being happy with my choice rather than fixating on what I wanted (FRIES! PASTRAMI! PIE!) and I finished lunch feeling rather full and happy.
Writing that one down to put on the fridge tho... "Don't eat your misery."
