After a week of my weight going up and my freaking out a bit over that (which I talked about last blog post), I've been pretty careful this week. I've been watching what I eat, but also adding some protein and an extra meal when I exercise. And I was happy to see the scale read "160".
I am now in the final 15 pounds. But more than that, when I inputted those numbers into SparkPeople, I saw something else - my BMI was 25.8, a mere .8 above a "healthy" BMI.
I don't even remember the last time I was in the Healthy BMI category. Even as a child, I was outside of my healthy category. As a teenager (weighing 180 pounds), I remember dreaming about being 140 pounds, a weight I was sure I could never attain.
Getting this close to the Healthy BMI range is exciting and rewarding. Yes, I know that me at 160 pounds is still healthy, and I could probably stop losing weight and live happily at this weight. To me, it's not so much, "I *MUST* be within my Healthy BMI to be healthy" more than "I would *LIKE* to be within my Healthy BMI".
This journey has been truly amazing. I've done things I never thought I'd be able to do. I've struggled with cravings and temptations and have STILL managed to lose weight and not backslide. I've lost over 100 pounds. I run. I bike. I enjoy life. And although this health journey will never truly end, it's nice to be nearing the rest stop of Healthy Weight and continue on into Maintenance.
