Buying an elliptical!

Wednesday, August 07, 2013

It just dawned on me today that once S moves out, I will have space for an elliptical! That room will be perfect. The guest rollaway bed is small & can be kept folded up when I don't have a guest. I will want to get a table for doing art & will keep supplies underneath it & in the wardrobe that's already in that room. There will be PLENTY of space left over for an elliptical.

So I spent more time than I should have today scouting out possibilities online. Read lots of reviews & descriptions. Now I have one on my Amazon wish list; it's the Pro Form 510 E & goes for $599. And a mat to go under it (I have hardwood floors). Anybody familiar with that particular elliptical? I'm not going to order it quite yet; I may wait till I get my next freelance payment, so as to not put it on a credit card at all. (If I do put it on a card, I'll pay it off the first of next month, before any interest is charged.) Feedback welcome! I'm pretty excited about this!

Yay!!! My aunt has an elliptical and I love it! I don't think it is the same as you mentioned since she bought it quite a few years back... Anyway, ENJOY!!!

What a great plan - there's probably a Spark Elliptical team that you could lurk on to get feedback about that machine.

I don't know anything about those machines, but I know ellipticals give a good workout! That's very exciting news!

I think it'll be fun. I'd love an elliptical in my house, but make do with the recumbent bike I bought a couple years ago. It's a great idea to have something in your home that you can use.

Sounds like you have some good plans. Sorry I don't know anything about specific elliptical machines. I do like to use them at the recreation center.

Have fun planning your "new" space!

Here's what I know about ellipticals. Heart rate monitor is not dependable. I don't know why this remains a problem spot for these things but it is.

You need to get on one before you buy it....your walking stride is a big factor in buying one of these things. If it does not fit your stride you are not going to want to use it. Try different brands in the store.

Tons of resistance is not always a required item. Mine has tons of resistance and an incline ramp that I rarely use. I will never achieve "beast" mode on that thing!!

Sometimes simple is good. Less stuff to break down and put together.

If you can find one with a built in fan...get it! Love my fan.

If they will deliver it already assembled...let them! We spent 3 days putting mine together. I have a science degree and my husband is a mechanic!!! Oh the joy's of that manual written by someone who did not put this machine together!
Good Luck!

I don't know the machine, but I have an elliptical and I call it my "no excuses" machine. It sits in a room I walk through often and I do use it. So great to have something I can get going on even for 20 minutes, though most of time I do intense 45 on it.

I hope you are able to get it in place soon and that you enjoy it!
