I spent twelve hours on the road yesterday to get home from my vacation. I am drained today. My vacation was better this time than the last trip we took to the same place. I made sure I packed my own breakfast foods(yogourt, almonds, grapes) and ate them every morning instead of eating the bacon and eggs my husband insisted on serving. Also, I packed a large amount of fresh cut veggies, and ate them all. I drank lots of water every day. Some of my downfalls: 1) no exercise. I could have walked in the woods every day, but it would have involved forcing my husband to go with me. I should have done that. 2) I drank a lot of alcohol. It probably wouldn't seem like a lot to most people, but I am typically not a big drinker, so it was a lot. 3) I left my food journal at home and used that as an excuse to stop tracking my food. BAD IDEA! I had blank paper and should have used it. 4) I did not overcome the obstacles and write my morning pages every day. I got them done 1 maybe 2 days and that was a HUGE struggle. My family needs to be made aware of how important this practice is for me. 5) I did not take the time to eat healthy food on the trip home yesterday. However, my "bad" choices were huge improvements on the choices I would have made in the past. At Tim Horton's, I chose a Turkey Bacon Club sandwich and a decaf coffee black opposed to a bagel, a donut and an Iced Cappuccino. At Harvey's, I chose a junior burger with cheese instead of fries. At the last rest stop we made, I had a Shrimp wrap from a Japanese restaurant which had lots of veggies on it with a whole wheat wrap. The high sodium high sugar sauce was probably a very bad idea though.
When we returned from this identical vacation one month ago I set my mind to reaching some important weight loss goals which I was able to achieve. My plan for today is to check in with the goals I set one week ago and make sure I am using the habits I developed over the last month so I can make the good choices I did make stick! My weigh in today is 227.4, which puts me up a pound from last week.
Goals for August
I am still aiming for the same weight loss goal. So, my goal for weigh in next Wednesday is 223.2. That is a loss of 4.2 pounds. It seems a little outrageous, so my smaller goal is 224.8, and my absolute must is to be 226.2. A new goal I am adding is related to my Cloverleaf commitment. I will begin tracking my food daily on Sparkpeople. A secondary goal to this will be to aim for a daily sodium intake below 2300.
My goal for August is to lose an additional 6.8 pounds to reach 219.6. I will continue to build the habits that served me well in July to achieve this goal.
Drink 8-10 cups of water daily
Walk 20 minutes daily
Write 3 morning pages daily
Keep my food journal
Eat 8-10 freggies daily
Track food intake on Sparkpeople daily
Keep sodium intake below 2300 every day
