Just one more reason to chart that food.....
Y'all know I have been watching my sodium....made sure I added none to my tomato yesterday....gave up the ham...etc.
I charted my breakfast....of only 198 calories, except for the carrots I forgot. It consisted of 1/2 cup egg beaters, 2/3 cup turkey crumbles, 2 tablespoons onion, 3 baby carrots grated, Peppers green and jalapeņo, 1 slice of fat free sharp cheddar cheese. one whole plum tomato. NO SALT ADDED!!!
When I charted this...calories 198 - GREAT!!!
11 carbs - Great!!! 3 Fat, Super!!! Protein 31 Way to GO!!! Lastly sodium.... 945. egg beaters label says only 90 mg of sodium....that is for 3 tablespoons. 1/2 cup is 8 tablespoons so that is 240 mg of sodium, with the cheese and the crumbles ...it's just too much sodium for me.
Lunch was not much better...Only 185 calories 23 carbs for my bread, mostly....lower sodium turkey breast...oven roasted and mayo canola oil.....total fat 6. Total protein 16.....total sodium 710.
Smoothie consisting of a banana, a plum, a cup of blueberries a knuckle of fresh ginger, zest of one lime and juice of one lime....almond milk. 257 calories, 56 carbs, 4 fat, 5 protein....sodium 201. not bad but still a surprise that there was any sodium.
Another snack 1 ounce of Walnuts, 3 baby carrots.... 205 calories, 9 carbs, 19 good fats, 5 Protein .35 sodium. naturally in the carrots mostly.
The facts are sodium is in everything from the milk you drink to the unseasoned veggies on the table....when they take fat or sugar out of anything they add sodium or salt, as we know it today.
I am dishearten. I thought I was doing so good.....but I have supper to go and I am almost at my daily allowance for the day. It is no wonder we are a bloated nation ....with fluid retention and obesity and high blood pressure rampant. I was really trying to do well...........and I still did not make it .... TOMORROW.... I'll try again tomorrow.
