Choosing another 5K - I may be running with someone?!

Tuesday, August 06, 2013

Happy Tuesday - sometimes it can be a Blues day. Other times is a Good News Day! Today I am have felt up & down all day! Crazy emotions day for me!

I did my 5K training last night. I walk/jogged 2 miles in 22 minutes. I am pretty happy with that time. It has been a while since I was really out there! I have a new armband for my phone/music. It worked pretty well, except it started feeling really tight towards the end of the run.

On the outside, I look like a real runner. I have running shoes (finally), dry-wicking socks, running pants, running tank top, sports bra, arm band! But I don't feel like a true runner on the inside. I wish I had the dedication to out a few times a week! I have so many other things that I do, and I can't stick with it somehow!!

Hopefully I find at least once race to in the next three months. One of my friends asked me if I am signed up for any 5Ks. I am not right now, so I looked into what is coming up soon in our area. There are about 10 different races between now and Halloween that look pretty good. She might run with me! I never ran with anyone before. I really want to step up my training - especially if I am running with her. I don't know how well she would do in a 5K, but I know sometimes she walks for 10 miles! I don't remember the last time I went that far in a day! Depending on how much training I get in, I will probably tell her that we can start out together, but she can go on ahead if she wants to!

Although I do like choosing my race days a few months in advance, I also feel a little bit bad when other plans come up on those days! Many people are last minute planners. I hate turning down plans with family and friends because of a race day. I wouldn't skip a race unless I really HAD to. Usually the races are early in the day, so I can do things after.. but sometimes I get really tired later on in the day! I have a lot of energy after the race, but then around 4 or 5 o'clock I usually feel drained!

Tomorrow is kickboxing. I think I am going to go every Wednesday for now. I would like to do one other fitness class every week. I want to start at that pilates place also. I have 10 fitness classes & I can pick any of them. They have pilates, spinning, zumba, and a few other classes. I might try a Pilates for Newbies class first to get used to the facility. I can always ask them about other classes once I am there.

Hopefully everyone has a fantastic rest of the week! Keep pushing towards your goals. I made some August goals - but I also want to just keep creating new healthy habits for myself.

Man you are doing so amazing with your fitness! I wish I had your commitment and your strength (literal and metaphorical, haha!). Plus I'm totally in love with the shirt in your profile picture! :)

Keep being awesome! I hope your decision for your 5k works out for you!

Kimpy, I was so inspired by you last year as you ran all those 5 kms. You're one of the reasons I determined to run a 5 km myself. I hear what you're saying about having so many things you want to do and when you sign up for a 5 km you have to make the training the priority. I believe it won't be long and you'll be feeling like a runner on the inside again. Looking forward to hearing about your next 5 km.

And, yes, I am thinking about a 5 km in September but haven't signed up because I'm just not feeling it either. May be the HOT weather we're having. Did do some running before my fitness class on Tuesday. That reminds me I should plan to do the same again tomorrow.

Have a Terrific Thursday.

If you run, you're a runner, girlie. Even if you only run once a month, even if you only run a mile, you run. emoticon

    Hi Kim,
sounds like you are being very active all round at the moment! Hope you find a 5k that you really want to run in the next few weeks. I have just signed up for my first 5k ever - for the 13th of September! I am still very slow at running - but I know I can make it over the finishing line and that is the most important thing just now!
Have a great week and meet your goals! emoticon

Glad you're having a overall good day. Happy about the kickboxing, self empowering!

Now onto the 5k. Sign up, make a commitment, and do it. You can do it! And you can do it with someone's faster pace. emoticon You have come this far, a race is just another notch for your accomplishment stick.
