Sick Day

Monday, August 05, 2013

OK - I give... took a sick day today after a rough night that resulted in almost NO sleep. I had my first bottle of water while deciding to stay home. Went back to bed and again did not sleep very well.

Then when I finally gave in and tried to eat something to tame my rumbly tummy. Since it was about 2pm, I chose to splurge and eat the only thing that didn't turn my stomach at the thought of... a dessert - that I'd bought over a week ago and it's been staring at me from the fridge, awaiting a day with few enough calories to allow the indulgence. This was seeming to be that day. I figured something (even as bad as cheesecake brownie - at a reasonable 330 calories!!! - especially if it led to me getting an appetite where I would actually eat something nutritious.

TMI alert -

No matter what I ate or drank today, I pretty much cleared out everything - especially water. Within the time of getting up and stepping on the scale, just before this began in full force - and less than an hour later... the scale soon read 1.8 pounds LIGHTER than at first. Yup - empty. Time for a fresh start LOL

So, again - a rest day dictated by extreme fatigue and not feeling well. Yay... just once, I'd like to have a rest day where I could still get steps in by shopping, exploring or something - not sleeping on a sofa.

Still not sure I'm quite over it. Still unsure whether it's from the new BP medicine or perhaps a bug - or perhaps tainted 'organic salad mix' that I ate last night.

Hubby was sweet when he came home... offered to get me something. I didn't even have energy today to make a smoothie today, so opted for a large blueberry pomegranate from the health-food haven of Mickey D's... yeah, well... needed liquid, and those gotta count for something! & it is healthier than cheesecake brownies!

Still feel a bit feverish now... hopefully I'll pass out tonight, and feel better in the morning! Of course, I fully know the scale will be back up to normal once I get and keep some fluids in! But, it was interesting to see ;)

Hope everyone else is doing well and staying on track!

Sorry to hear that you under the weather and it's hard to say what's causing it...could be any of the things you mentioned. Hope you're doing better today.

That's too bad, hope it isn't the organic salad mixes. What's left if you can't trust organic? I tend to buy organic in lettuces & spinach because of these types of things. Hope you get to feeling better & it all settles down, but for the life of me, I don't know how you ate a brownie while sick! emoticon I'm usually a cracker eater when tummy troubles arrive!

Feeling a lil' better today... had a little bit of an issue here at work, but nothing major like yesterday.

For the spinach comments, I'm normally not reactive that way - I love the baby spinach in the 50/50 mixes! I'm really leaning towards being a bug from the salad mix - or just adjusting to the new med. I'm an IBS sufferer, and this wasn't the normal IBS-D I would normally suffer, nor like the lactose intolerance problems I've had. It was much.... stronger... and fever also is listed along with the sore throat, as side effects for Cozaar (BP med). Besides, I'm IBS-C predominant! & just got over a bout of that last Thursday! LOL I'm just unpredictable!

So, have gone with my normal yogurt/granola breakfast today... and only mild reaction... so I just ate a PB&J sammich (keep supplies in my fridge under my desk, as my emergency/back-up lunch)... and am feeling hungry still, so I'm hoping that's a good sign! Altho', still quite weak from dehydration yesterday.

Oh yeah, and the weight is already back on LOL I chugged 2 bottles of water before even leaving the house this morning!

I've learned to be very careful when buying "organic" salad mix because it often contains spinach - and the symptoms you describe are what happens to me when I eat that - and then I have "IBS-like" symptoms for a long time after (I'm just getting over being "spinached" and it's been about 3 weeks...!)

Here's to you feeling better!

Hope you feel better soon. Try the BRAT diet. It would be easier on your stomach.

I hope you're feeling better by the time you read this! We feel so good to see the scale go down, but it's a miserable way to lose it . . . and we know it comes right back! Lay low until you're better and have some tea -
Hugs,
Nancy, L&L
