It's been a bit!!

Monday, August 05, 2013

Took a little hiatus from Spark for a few weeks. Not really on purpose, just trying to be more intuitive. Don't get me wrong I LOVE spark and all it's tools, sometimes I feel like I rely a little too much on them. Im happy to report that I have not gained any weight since I stopped. I may not have lost any either, but, atleast I know I can maintain without logging in everyday... Anyway, I am ready to start kicking some butt. I'm going camping at the lake in a few weeks, my birthday is Sept 11th, and then the month after is Halloween! So these are some motivators for me. I'm gonna start doing my squats and lunges regularly again. I've kept up with them enough that I won't have to go through that first week of wanting to die everytime I move my legs atleast. I noticed a difference in my body when I was really focusing on doing them though. I also went on a 1.5 mile run/walk this morning. I haven't attempted to run in over a year and I definitely felt it. I am going to have to go slowly to build up my stamina. I felt like my chest was on fire and my head was aching! I ended up maybe running a 1/4 of a mile and walking most of the rest of the way. It also didn't help that I went a little to late in the morning. Started to get hot. Tomorrow I'm gonna go earliar. That will probably help a lot. Foodwise I have been okay. I have been indulging in some sweets lately. I notice that I'm getting really good at portioning out food though. Stopping and not just mindlessly stuffing my face. Being able to say no to things I really don't need....
Anyway, I hope everyone else has been doing good on their journeys as well... We can do this!!!!

Good for you for intuitive habits working for you! And it is nice to see that you can maintain on your own.

And that is so cool that you're trying new things--like running!

Spark is a good support and the ultimate goal is a healthy lifestyle. Awesome work! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Welcome back! Good for you on staying on track even when enjoying some well-earned treats! emoticon
Yes, Iíve also noticed that I am doing well even when I donít track. Iíve even lost 3 more pounds! emoticon
SparkPeople has definitely helped me in getting in the habit of portioning out my foods and making better choices. Itís nearly effortless when you have the right foods and learn to eyeball the correct portions. I know that I will continue to need SP for keeping myself in check and accountable, however, so I won't stray too far but itís nice to see how Iíve already learned good habits from this site.

This is birthday season for my family. Mine is next week, my motherís is next month, and my older brother's is early October. Then we enter the holiday season. Yes, that will be the real test!!

I know we will be fine during our upcoming challenges because we have already learned the tools that we need to continue our progress in spite of it all! Right?
