Hello dear Sparkfriends,

Oh it is wonderful to go on a hike on a Monday! I love being on vacation!

At the time when I should have been on paths and enjoying the sunshine, yesterday, I was carrying tables up the stairs. Now that I am very happy with the changes in my apartment, it was time to go walking. I went to Boran-sur-Oise, 30 minutes North from where I live (so roughly 40 minutes by train from Paris). I wanted to walk by the river!

I am not sure why, but I felt like this walk was completely timeless. I wouldn't have been surprised if suddenly I had seen a man on a 1940s bicycle with a black beret and a baguette! Throughout my walk I had the song 'Douce France' from Charles Trenet in my head. As soon as I got home I looked for it on the Internet and listened to it!

(It always makes me feel melancholic: it was written in 1943 for the French men who were war prisoners in Germany.)

"I've known landscapes
And these wonderful suns
On distant journeys
Far away under other skies
But how much I prefer
My blue sky my horizon
My main road and my river
My prairie and my home..."

But now I can stop feeling melancholic! I can enjoy France's walking paths as much as I want!

All the area by the river in Bonan-sur-Oise is protected, and there were many more flowers than last time I came.

I only saw a couple of boats: August is extremely quiet in the extended Paris area, even on rivers!

The last part of the walk was through the woods, meadows and fields...

... and through the village of Boran-sur-Oise...

It felt good to find some shade again near the Saint-Vaast Church (13th century).

I hope you had a beautiful weekend... Thank you very much for reading and have a great week!
