Fun day....but not a good day

Sunday, August 04, 2013

Got the kids to church....sunday school class has 4 dozen donuts (literally), having not made enough time for breakfast....I ate two (strike one). Also have been fighting a migraine on and off all week....today was becoming on (strike two).

Skipped church service to avoid full onslaught of migraine (praise band is loud...lol) came home and took pills....ate leftover fried chicken and tried to rest but ended up cleaning house instead.

Had a 50's themed sock-hop at church tonight for our worship pastor's 50th birthday celebration. Ate pulled pork sandwich AND chili dog AND rootbeer float and and and....I was so full (strike three)......I'm out!

Heading to bed about now (9:40ish) cause I have to be at work by 4:30 tomorrow morning. Hoping for a migraine free day, but not counting on it. Think I'm possibly a bit on the dehydrated side if I really think about it. Will try harder this week to drink more water.

Yes, but baseball players who strike out or don't get on base 7 times out of 10, have a batting average of .300 which is not too shabby!

Don't be so hard on yourself. Years ago I did a lot of church work. I taught every Sunday, volunteered my summer holidays at VBS and camp, was on several committees and went to or led umpty church meetings, worked full time and was on call every weekend for three years until I had help. I also went back to school full time for 3.5 years, doing online courses, while working. I started at 6 in the morning before work, and then at 6 at night until 0200 or 0300 and then the cycle continued the next day - or shall I say the same day. It finally hit me when I had a lot of headaches and became anemic (duh) that I could not be all things to all people.

What our three children say now is, it was too bad I didn't do more with all of us as a family together. I probably could have left the hamster wheel sooner to no one's detriment. No wonder I gained weight - i.e. the cortisol connection and lack of sleep.

Finally I am listening to my body and saying time's up about a lot of things. I do hope your headaches lessen. Mom and dads so often burn the candle at both ends.
