Who is your Inspiration?

Sunday, August 04, 2013

Do you have someone in your life who inspires you? Over the years I always wanted to be like my aunt. My mother's older sister was like a second mother to me. Since my mother passed away when I was just 19, my sons never got a chance to know her. My aunt was like a grandmother to them and a second mother to me. Losing her at 96 was harder for me than losing my own mother but she was a wonderful role model for me.
Even as she aged, she never quit doing. In her 70's she started walking in her neighborhood. She continued to make bread from scratch into her late 80's. She was always willing to help friends and family and showed me what it is to be a good role model.
As I struggle with my weight, I watch some ladies in my community. There is one who is turning 90. She gets out and walks every day at least 30 minutes! She is one of my volunteers and helps with the park gardening. She lost her DH last year but it hasn't stopped her. She is living her life to the fullest.
My next door neighbor turned 80 this year and she has started a walking program and dropped about 20 pounds. She gets out early every morning and we pass each other in the early morning-pounding the pavement as we both try to maintain our health. She has macular degeneration so it is even more amazing that she is able to keep going.
These are some of the wonderful ladies who have inspired me during my life-do you have someone who has helped you change your life and improve it?

Hmm, I haven't thought about who my inspiration is, perhaps it is the me that lost the 40 lbs before the surgeries two years ago. If I did it then, I can do it now. Thanks for all your kind words, Pat. They have meant a lot.

  What a nice topic!
My dear, sweet mom was -- and always will be my greatest blessing from God. She died at 97 several years ago, and I was at her bedside as she left this earth for her Heavenly home. Her life was one of charity and virtue. She was humble and selfless-- --what a wonderful teacher to her four children. Mom never drove a car, but she took care of us, as well as the neighborhood children. She was devoted to God, and she was ever prayerful ----- I miss my angel - mom. What an inspiring life she led-- and God truly blessed me by making her my beloved mother.
Thanks for this blog-- and God bless everyone.

My 85 year old Aunt. She gets up everyday and gets dressed and ready to go. Some days she she walks up and down the side walk where she lives. While I was on vacation in June & July she started going to the senior citizens building for lunch most days for time with her friends. She always has on her make-up and wears jewelry with every outfit. Then we run errands once a week. She says "she has to get up and go because if she sat down she'd never get up." Way to go.

My mother was and still is my inspiration. She never let anything get her down. Whatever she put her mind to doing got done. My DH can't quite wrap his mind around it as MIL is perfectly content to wait for others to solve her problems for her. Just a difference in people. And my mother's sister, (I am named after her) also made a lasting impression on my life. Strong women with strong hearts and constitutions.

I have always been inspired by my parents. Their drive and get-up-and-go attitude has always been an inspiration to me and my siblings. The never allowed the trials and tribulations of life bring them down and they passed this down to all of their children. My dad will be 88 this month and my mom is 84. God bless them!!!!

I actually am inspired by Jane Seymore. I think she is beautiful for her age. She lives a life that she loves. She is a romantic and has always kept her weight down and eats healthy. I love how feminine she is.
