I'm enjoying my summer Sunday. I hope you are too. These days when you hear the crickets pulse...it's truly high summer. I try to get my outdoorsy stuff done early because I don't want to be walking/riding my bike when the temps are 95 and climbing. On a Sunday on my own I project some lounging during the heat of the day - something I rarely get to do.
Today I got a jump on things. I drove my DH to the airport for a 4 day conference and was heading home by 6:30AM. My time was my own, what a pleasure. Jersey (my co-conspirator) & I decided to go to a different lake for our walk since we were already in the car. The mountain views from Crown Hill Park are amazing - why didn't I bring my camera? I promise to start doing this so I can add some photos to my blogs in the future. Anyway, a crystal clear morning, crisp enough so some people I met on the walk were wearing long-sleeves and Jersey enjoyed snuffling around after different scents than she is used to when we walk around the lake closer to my home.
I also put in some garden time. We rec'd about an inch of rain last night
& I needed to stake up some of the gladiolas. As always I deadheaded the petunias that are still hanging in there even as the summer temps consistently punish them
While I was out I pulled some weeds and straightened up the patio area. I also emptied the compost bucket into our composter. Ugh. That is not a favorite chore and it's one my DH normally does. I have to sincerely thank him for handling that when he gets back in the town because....UGH! But back to better things.... I had a nice conversation over the fence with a friend and then came in and took a nap. In the morning!
OK, now I'm just spoiling myself!
Today's a tough one as far as my food goes. We entertained last night and that means for me some alcohol (kept well within limits) and dessert. Well, dessert, hmmm? Boston Cream Pie, people!
The combination of drinks and dessert just isn't a part of my eating plan so today, I'm dusting myself off and watching it carefully. Have a mid-afternoon celebration to go to across the street as our neighbor is celebrating the tri-athalon he should have completed this morning. I'm taking over the watermelon/cucumber and mint salad he requested from me - I can nibble on that if everything else is too heavy. And I can walk back across the street before I do too much damage.
Anyway, it should be a great day. Hope your's is going just as strong. And speaking of strong....let's be strong this next week and nail our plans! Have a good one
