Another busy day...

Saturday, August 03, 2013

My niece is setting up housekeeping in this house in DC for the next school year, so they needed to get furniture today while we had the truck here. So, we went to Goodwill and got them a sofa and two wing chairs, plus assorted other items. Then we went to a furniture store and got a dining room table. After all that running around and moving furniture (which I didn't track, but probably counts as ST... lol), I decided I needed to see some sights so I took the Metro to the National Mall and walked two laps around all the way down to the White House, then all the way past the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial... and yes I walked briskly up all those stairs. I wanted to run up them, but it was too crowded. A warm Saturday in early August meant it was pretty crowded on the Mall. I walked briskly (very briskly), but I was also doing some people watching, and listening to the various languages all around me. I think there were more non-English speakers out there today than there were English speaking people!

I managed to navigate the Metro on my own, which was something that had me a little nervous, as I live in a very small village where I can literally walk to everything within minutes. I have to walk to the next town if I want to get any long distance walking in when I am home. Tomorrow we are off to Ithaca. I still don't know for certain where I am staying once we get there, but it will get sorted out... hopefully by the time we get there! I hope to get some runs in this week and do some paddling. There is also some house painting that needs to happen at my niece's mother's house. How would I track house painting? I am certain it should count as exercise!

House painting is most certainly exercise - those cans can be weights and the constant movement certainly raises the heart rate.

Have you ever painted a house before? It DEFINITELY counts as exercise!!! You are going to use muscles you didn't even know you had. LOL Your paddling workouts will serve you well for this adventure. Have lots of fun on this trip and keep being the exciting and exuberant person you are . I get such a charge out of your blogs.

I have been on the Metro and there is no way I would go by myself on that. My daughter lives about 20 min from DC and that is one area I would not want to live in. You have had a very productive day.

the tracker will help you out with the painting- don't forget to intersperse some upper body stretching throughout your day as you are working or your body will never let you forget this adventure. Glad you were able to help Tigan get so much accomplished in DC and see the sights as well

Good for you getting around the big city!
Awesome sights to see for sure!
Painting is in the fitness tracker, just search for it. Keep track of how long it takes.
Do an internet search for a good place to stay, close to where you want to be..A bed and breakfast would be nice..
