Its been a few days since I blogged. Here's why. I came home from work on Thursday afternoon. I live on a sparsely populated dead end road out in the country. However, neighbors from my street and the neighboring street were standing in my front yard staring at my house. My house had a wooded backyard surrounded by a fence to contain the dog. It also had a carport. A tornado touched down in my back yard. Six ancient oaks (10 feet or more in diameter) were ripped out of the ground. All of the pines in the yard were ripped out of the ground. One of the outbuildings had been wrenched from its foundation and moved 5 feet across the yard. The fence was gone on all sides. An ancient and huge oak lay on the rubble that used to be the carport. A tree lay across the roof of my daughters bedroom.

Damage to the house was minimal, and neither car was in the carport. The animals, both inside pets, were fine. Made it onto the evening news.

sorry about the loss of your beautiful trees but really glad you all were okay. I live in tornado alley so I have dealt with tornado's more often than I want to remember. Take care

Reminds me a bit of the tree loss we sustained with Sandy - looked incredibly scary at first glance!

At least you and yours came out unscathed - that's the most important thing!

I was wondering if you were in Jacksonville, Fl. We had a tornado come through Thursday but I guess you're in S.C. Glad the damage wasn't worse than it was and that things can get back to normal soon.
