Back to tracking again.

Saturday, August 03, 2013

I am trying to cut back on cheese (I'm a lactose intolerant cheese addict) and I'm getting back to tracking. I tracked solidly for a year, lost 25 lbs, and have fallen off the wagon. My portions have crept up. While I haven't been gaining, I've been maintaining so long I can't even call it a plateau anymore. So I have to get back to counting calories and tracking. I still need to replace my broken scale.

Since I started DDPY, though, the scale has been inching down. An ounce here, half a pound there. It's progress, and I like it.

My current goals are as follows:

More veggies. I've gone from 5-6 servings back down to 2-3.
Less pizza! It's been our lazy food lately, and the sodium bloat is telling the story.
No more soda. I had stopped for a while, then started back. Then I downed an entire 12 pack of Coke Zero Vanilla in 3 days. Umm... no. So I haven't had any soda for five days now, and I'm keeping it that way. I'm broke and can't afford the stuff anyway.
Get my sodium back under control. I've slipped back onto some of the prepackaged stuff I like. So I went and bought some basics! Tonight's menu: Roast beef with veggies! (all homemade!)

It wouldn't hurt me to follow your lead ( except I'm a beer drinker instead of soda).

While you can partially blame the stresses you've faced lately (like the broken fridge), it's all up to you to make the change. You'll be able to get back on track soon. It might help to throw away any takeout menus or delivery phone numbers you have nearby. If you have to take the time to find the info to order out then you have the time to throw something together. Keep the fixings for easy meals and snacks on hand - if it takes 10-20 minutes to throw together a quick healthy meal and 30 minutes to order takeout or delivery, your choice is a little easier.

Is your standing desk still working out well for you?

If you want to try home made pizzas, I use the Extreme Wellness Tortillas from Ole` and instead of sauce, I use sun dried tomato pesto...its right next to the regular pesto at the store, you only need a little bit of it because it packs a LOT of flavor, then top off with some meat...and veggies out the ying yang!

How about making yourself a pizza/soda savings challenge? It could be a family thing or a just-you thing, but if you set aside the money you're spending on soda and the difference between takeout and homemade pizza, you'll have a good head start on a family vacation fund or a treadmill desk fund or something fun like that. Penny saved, penny earned, and all that.
