August Goals

Saturday, August 03, 2013

I haven't written my goals down in quite sometime. Maybe this is part of the reason why I am lost and struggling. Maybe there is something to writing things down. Since I have entered maintenance, I couldn't think of any goals. I was focused on losing weight for 2 years. Here are some goals for August.

1. Get through the month without going completely broke.
2. Earn at least 4,000 spark points.
3. Strength train at least 3x a week.
4. Pool at least 2x a week.
5. Write my son once a week.
6. Have a private conversation with Brianna who is going off to college. emoticon
7. Maintain weight loss.

Best wishes on reaching those goals. I noticed you didn't include "be awesome" but that's another goal you regularly achieve. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your participation here on SparkPeople. Your input is part of what makes Sparkpeople very special.

Good goals Bonnie!! I think you are right! Writing them down is a good thing to do. Make copies of your goals and put them on the bathroom mirror, the kitchen cabinet, the refrigerator, and anywhere else you may see it! Not my original idea. I've been doing things like that for years, and I've seen it mentioned here on SP,too! Awhile ago when I was going through a tough time, I made multiple copies of this phrase: Something good is going to happen today. I put them up EVERYWHERE. Someone asked me what it was going to be, and I said I had no idea, but when it happened I'd be ready!! That's a huge part: being open to the possibilities!!

I love your goals! After your talk with your daughter, you can start thinking of what you want to send her in an away from home box. Those little surprise boxes helped me feel connected. Hugs, Laurel

For sure the goal setting is a little different in maintenance than during the weight-loss process. but I have to agree with you . . . I found it much more "real" to write the goals down like I did when losing weight. Good for you that you have done that. I bet it will help your motivation.

Hope you have a wonderful conversation w/Brianna and wishing her all the success. It's a scary but exciting time in her life.
