2 Peter 1:5-6
Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;and to knowledge, self control; and to self-control, perseverance.
Lysa Tyrkheurst from Made to Crave Devotional:
Big things are built one brick at a time. Victories are achieved one choice at a time. A life well lived is chosen one day at a time.
SELF-CONTROL STARTS BY MAKING ONE GOOD CHOICE.
When I began this journey to health and fitness I knew that it had to be about more than just losing weight to fit into a certain size or for other people to notice. I can look back on so many times in my life where my choice to not operate in self-control in my words, thoughts, actions, spending money and food choices brought strife and frustration into my life. I realized that if I want to build a path to victory I had to begin to make choices that were based on self-control. I could no longer live a sloppy, mediocre life if I wanted to reach my goals and live a peaceful and joyful life.
I don't have to believe that I am not a self-controlled person. I don't have to believe that it Is just how I am. I have the power to choose who I am and what I want to achieve. And it starts with one brick.
Hebrews 12:11 (NLT)
No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening----it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
I'm keeping my eyes on the "afterward" when I have achieved my weight loss goals and all of the other cross over goals that will bring me out of this journey to the peace that comes from a life well - lived.
God Bless and
