Help : Feel like I am losing my mojo..

Saturday, August 03, 2013

Feeling like my motivation to eat well is going downhill for the last 2 weeks. I know I need to stop munching on junk, but once night-time comes....I just eat stuff that is unhealthy for no reason. Can't seem to stop myself when I do it. Does anyone else have this problem? I think I just need to get myself into bed....if I am sleeping, I am not eating, right? Why can't we lose weight by eating M&M's????? What's up with that? Ha.

I am keeping up with my workouts though, but the all-or-nothing part of me wants to ditch the workout the morning after I eat a bunch of junk. Trying not to listen to my all-or-nothing brain. So, here I go......no binging on junk tonight. I will read a good book instead and eat a tootsie pop instead. Or, just go to bed.

Lots of people sabatoge themselves when they are close to goal... any chance that's what's happening here?

All the suggestions are good coping strategies for the immediate problem. Good luck!

Thanks for the info and ideas. I have done so well for the last year. I just have these periods of time, usually around the time I am in very good shape....I just start to lose it for some reason. I really don't want to lose it this time. I want to muddle through. Thanks for the support!! I am going to look at some of those sites to see others ideas. Brushing my teeth...good idea. I chew gum after my meals during the day and should do that at night also. Everyone goes to bed before me and I end up in a feeding frenzy, even when I am perfectly full. A full on binge. I wonder what makes me do that. I enjoy eating, I know that! It really has nothing to do with fullness. I love to eat. Last night I had a tootsie pop in bed for a sweet treat. It took a long time to eat and was only 50 calories. A much better choice. Thanks for all of your tips! It helps a lot :)

I don't eat at night. I can't let myself do that. It is easier not to start than to stop. It's like trying to stop throwing up. I just can't do it. As soon as dinner is done, I brush and floss before I even wash a dish, and I'm done eating for the day. There isn't enough exercise in the world to compensate for what I can eat once I get started on the junk, no matter how "good for me" the snack food may be.

I know what you mean. Our grocery store has packages of mini peppers, they only have 40 calories per 3. I snack on them when I get hungry & they are also good for you. That is if you like peppers.

You can do this. Just remember how far you've come.

Evenings are an issue for me, too. Early on I set a fastbreak goal to avoid mindless snacking in the evening-that helped-I like checking that little box. Going to bed would work and you can try other diversions as well. You can do it!

I have a tendency to overeat at night too. There are several tools here on SP to help with that.

The "Tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge"
Emotional Eaters Team. They address eating out of boredom and night eating as well.
Many articles on this subject.

Look in to one or more of these resources. I'm better now, but still have a way to go!

Good Luck!!
