Keeping things going is tough. It is easy to lose momentum. I've noticed that as summer is winding down the things I DIDN'T get done instead of the things I DID do. What didn't I do? I DIDN'T keep my yard looking neat and taken care of. I DIDN'T save the money I wanted to. I DIDN"T finish a single book. I DIDN'T take the kids to the pool/park/waterpark as much as I wanted to. I DIDN"T picnic/entertain/go out with friends. I DIDN"T get my 50+ mile bike ride in, I DIDN'T swim 2X a week like I wanted to. I DIDN'T work on the 7yr quilt. I DIDN't get the basement store room cleaned out.

It would be so easy to focus on the shortcomings or blame others. But really when I look at my summer list that really isn't as bad as I thought. What did I do? I DID take the family camping for 3 nights, in a tent. I made breakfast over the fire and baked biscuits in a dutch oven on the coals. I DID increase my fruit/veg consumption. I DID take the girls to see Despicable Me 2 in 3D. I DID make all of my training runs in July. I DID get the bookcases built and the trim/doors primed and ready for paint (we have a big old house that used to have ugly cheap brown trim). I DID use my clothes line more than the dryer. I DID track my food most days, and my activity every day. I am running faster than I have in years. I DID meet some of my July goals.

WOW I did a lot in June and July. More than I thought I would do. I could have just sat and done nothing. I need to remember that my 3yr old doesn't care about the basement store room, and my 7 year old could care less about the yard - as long as she has a place to dig. Maybe the 7yr quilt will become the 8yr quilt. And I have to say I am ok with that.

It was humid and started raining on the last 2 miles. Overall it was a good hard run.
