Dogs Welcome

A man wrote a letter to a small hotel in a Midwest town he planned to visit on his vacation. He wrote: “I would very much like to bring my dog with me. He is well-groomed and very well behaved. Would you be willing to permit me to keep him in my room with me at night?"

An immediate reply came from the hotel owner, who wrote: SIR: "I've been operating this hotel for many years. In all that time, I've never had a dog steal towels, bedclothes, silverware or pictures off the walls. I've never had to evict a dog in the middle of the night for being drunk and disorderly. And, I've never had a dog run out on a hotel bill.

Yes, indeed, your dog is welcome at my hotel. And, if your dog will vouch for you, you're welcome to stay here, too."

I wish all motels would allow dogs. I really don't get why. I suppose it's the people that let their dogs bark and tear up things that give a bad name for all. I've also heard stories about dogs not being let out enough, so of course they use the hotel room as their potty place.

Our dogs have always been well behaved. We don't allow them on the beds and they are kenneled when we aren't there. (More for their protection than what they would do.)

Cute blog. Thanks, I needed the smile today.

That is funny, and so true. We took our dog on a hotel vacation with us for the first time this year. (We were planning mostly outdoor activities but were unable to pack enough gear for all of us to camp for a week.) I wondered how it would be in a hotel that specifically advertised as dog friendly. Would the dogs bark as they heard neighbors in various rooms coming and going? But the group was awesome. Cute, friendly, quieter than their people! And the hotel manager said pretty much the same thing as above ... That the dogs are NOT the source of their biggest headaches :-)
