July Wrap Up

Well, July was a pretty good month for me. I was SMARTer about setting my goals and, therefore, able to reach the majority of them. In fact, I blew some of them out of the water!
1. Do a minimum of 1250 minutes of exercise
I joined the 28-Day Boot Camp Challenge to help add other exercise but I ended up dropping out because I just couldnít keep up with it. However, I did add a lot of additional exercise to my routine that I ended up with 1902 fitness minutes. Thatís right, 1902 minutes! That is 652 minutes over my goal.
2. Lose 4 pounds
I did really well making my meal plans this month, and I did it on a very strict budget. It wasnít easy but I was able to get what I needed to make my meals. And I really started working out on the weekends. I do my own made-up version of Walking Off the Pounds and Iíve started working out with my weights too. Iíve made some real progress this month and am going to build on it next month. With that said, Iíve gone from 213.6 to 209.8, which is a loss of 3.8 pounds. Itís not quite 4 pounds but Iím taking it as a victory because it put me over the 40 lb loss.
3. Walk two 5Ks, at least virtually
I only made one of my two planned 5Ks this month. I got in one towards the end of the monthÖand I was really thrilled with my results. I walked my first 5K back on 4/11 and it took me 63 minutes and 54 seconds. On 7/26, my time was 45:25. So, in 3Ĺ months Iíve cut over 18 minutes off my time! I think that is a definitely a victory for someone who was a complete couch potato up until January of this year!
4. Walk 50 miles, that includes the treadmill, walking videos, and outside
This is another of my goals that I pretty much blew out of the water. I have a great walking partner and a fitness center right in the building. This makes it simple to go down and walk twice a day Monday through Thursday. All this has led to being able to walk faster, leading to more mileage. I was able to walk 70.2 miles!! Over 20 miles more than the goal I set for this month.
