Yesterday morning, Shelley, her daughter and I, went back to the park and made a valiant attempt at the Parcourse Fitness Trail. Valiant. Like, you will watch this video and be amazed at our athletic prowess. You may even ask yourself, “Why aren’t they in the Olympics?” The answer is, “Because we don’t want to give up our pro status.” We tried really hard at every station. Some of them were just beyond us. Some of them had to be modified for my neck and Shelley’s back. But we tried. We really, really did. And we had fun. And we walked for an hour and a half. And we laughed a lot. And we got our heart rates up to Shelley’s satisfaction. And we got a little lost and ended up at the playground, where Shelley astounded herself by doing the monkey bars, so it was a good diversion. All in all, it was a fun and fit morning. And I’m feeling every inch of it today. lol
Behold the Suburban Athletes
Audrey ended up not going with us yesterday morning, but I have to brag about her for something else. You know she’s been working hard and losing weight this summer. Well, we did a little back to school shopping this week and she was so excited. For the last couple of years, she’s dreaded it and ended up just buying smaller t-shirts in the men’s department. Not this year. We went to fun shops and she was able to buy cute stuff, off the rack, in the women’s department! Some of you understand what a victory that is. I look forward to that day myself. She didn’t try to hide behind baggy clothes. Instead, she chose cute, flattering outfits, that accent her curves and help her stand tall and proud. I am SO happy for her! Check out her First Day of School outfit. I think she looks great.
Sha-BAM!!! Take that, 8th Grade!
Tomorrow is my week one weigh-in for my 5% challenge and I have to confess I’m a little fearful. Just a little. See, while I was traveling, someone sneaked this little jar of evil into my house.
Oh, the evil power you hold over me, you and your chocolately hazelnut goodness.
Anyway, I’ve been trying to reach for cantaloupe and watermelon, and ignore the evil, but it hasn’t always worked. Tomorrow will be what it will be and I will keep on plugging. In fact, I’m turning my back on the kitchen right now and jumping on the elliptical. Maybe if I run fast enough, I’ll get away? :)
Spark ON, Brave Sparkers!!
PS: I forgot to mention that Tom, Shelley and I have finally set the date for our 30,000 Step Challenge Day! We're doing it next Sat., Aug. 10th. It'll be a two-parter with one super early walk, before it gets hot, and then another one later that evening. If you want to join us virtually and try to get 30,000 steps in a day, wherever you are, let us know, so we can cheer you on!
