Days 20 and 21 of 50.. I can officially call myself a runner!
Friday, August 02, 2013
Day 20 went amazing for me. I stuck to my workout plan did 30 minutes walking, 30 minutes legs/glutes, and then ran. I ran a 5k in 35 minutes and 11 seconds. I RAN the entire thing! I still kind of can't believe it. This is a super huge deal for me because when I started my weight loss journey I literally had a hard time running for 30 seconds. I couldn't even do one lap around the parking lot of my apartment building and now I ran 3.2 miles. AHHHH! I really can't believe how far I've come. Growing up I've always hated running and when I started losing weight I kept hating it. But one day I decided I'll just run for 60 seconds then walk 60 and alternate and something clicked in me and I fell in love. So I set a goal to run 1 mile. The whole time I was trying to work up to running a mile I kept saying to myself "I wish I could run a 5k, but I'll probably never be able to actually run the whole thing nonstop." But the better I got the more I pushed myself, and the more I started believing myself. Then January 1st of this year I made a resolution to run a 5k before the end of 2013. Done!
Now I want to work on running faster and beating my time. I also want to run in some actual 5k races and get used to doing that distance on a regular basis. Maybe 2014 will see a 10k out of me. Even typing that scares me. I feel like there's no way I could ever run that far nonstop but I also used to feel exactly the same about a 5k. So we shall see.
The plan for day 21 is 30 minutes elliptical, 30 minutes walking, 30 minutes abs/back OR
30 minutes walking outside, 30 minutes running the steps at the McKinley Monument and 30 minutes abs/back. It all depends on the weather but either way I'll be getting a good workout in.
My meal plan for tomorrow:
Breakfast: scrambled egg whites with peppers and onions, turkey back, fresh mixed berries
Lunch: Homemade veggie pizza and salad
Dinner: Grilled chicken, salad with tons of veggies
Snacks:#1 apple/ greek yogurt
#2celery/ baby carrots/ cucumbers/ homemade hummus
