I Tried Breathing With The Stars This Morning

Thursday, August 01, 2013

The Big G and I took our coffee outside to the back patio this morning at 3:20 a.m. The area that we live in has little ambient light, so sitting outside on an almost moonless night allows us to truly enjoy the stars. There was a meteor shower going on this morning.

In the first half hour, Big G saw 9 shooting stars, I saw 5. I was trying to do my breathing exercises and watch the sky at the same time.

Usually I do most of my breathing work before I get out of bed in the morning, again in bed before I go to sleep at night, and occasionally when I have a few minutes during the day. I have a set of 8 different breathing exercises I do, and I put as much emphasis on them as I do my weight training. I believe that these exercises have helped me in many ways. They certainly help calm me down during the day if I need it. ( Two of them are specifically relaxing breaths).

It was very quiet this morning, a slight breeze was rustling the Quaking Aspen, but the birds weren't up yet, and there was no traffic. The noise was all coming from me and my breathing exercises #3, 5, and 6. I could smell the mowing that I had done yesterday, and our coffee. Mine got cold. I usually practice breathing with my eyes open, so I just focused on the sky to the west, the general direction of the meteor shower.

Exercising with the stars in the sky this morning was more enjoyable and less distracting than I would have guessed it to be. I'll certainly repeat this!

Thank you for the lovely wishes on the healing of my ankle. Its holding steady for now but I'm considering wrapping it up just to be prudent. I did 90 minutes exercise so I am alright since it was low impact and cardio heaven tonight~ emoticon emoticon emoticon

I had to read that twice! Coffee outside at 3.20am! Apart from the hour, it sounds like a perfect way to start the day.

Oh, I think I'll be alright with all the walking, I'm amazed with losing inches more than weight but I'm fine with being down round 130-127 even if my goal weight is 125. Its just a number. Plus my body may prefer the 130 range and if that is so then I will bow to her wishes. I do enough walking, cardio, dancing, yoga and such so I have enough variety going there so my body doesn't adapt too much to the regimen. Yeah 82K is ambitious and depending how I feel later is how this week will go. If I have to lower the goals than so be it. I just have to listen to my body and adjust based on that. I like avoiding injury.
Plus September is strength training right? I have some videos on YouTube that look promising and once I get to it with the strength I anticipate more benefits on the way. I wanted to make sure I was committed to the journey before getting seriously in the game in all areas, slowly introducing more than walking, cardio, getting sleep and nutrition in order. I always knew strength training was the last piece of the equation. I had to mentally get myself ready for it since its my least favourite part. I wanted to make sure I could do the 3 times a week necessary to see the benefits!
Breathing exercises, I think I would like to try this very much any hints or pointers? Wow, coffee at 3am glad you 2 had a lovely morning to greet the day~
