Goodbye July - Hello August :)

Thursday, August 01, 2013

I was so excited to share my 5lb weight loss with you all, that I forgot today was August 1st, which means it's time to recap July and set some goals for August!

How did my July goals go?

I've been doing really well this! Occassionally I miss a mid-week training run, or I take a rest day instead of cross-training, but overall, I would say this has been a success!

This was a HUGE success! I finished in 2:29:22! Thats 10 minutes faster than my conservative goal time! I am ecstatic over this, and anxious to see how my half marathon times improve as I continue to train for this marathon!

I was apparently not as committed as I had thought. I finally took the dvd out last week and did a workout, and I was ridiculously sore! So then I held off until after the half marathon. I have finally settled on doing it only twice per week. I feel better about this now, and I've done it once this week already!

Yeah...that was a fail. I WANT to want to do yoga. I just never really want to do it. I know I should - so I'll keep trying to motivate myself. It's just a matter of popping in the dvd and doing it.

emoticon Read 5 books - and stay away from epicly long ones! emoticon
Ugh what a fail. I dont even think I completed one book this month! I told you all recently I've been slacking on my reading. At this point, I dont think I'll make my goal of reading 40 books this year, but I am going to keep continuing to see how close to the goal I can atleast come. I've been consistently reading at night this week, so that is something!

I only completed two, and I have two others started. I painted three terra cotta pots in red white and blue to use as utensil holders, and labeled them "forks" "knives" and "spoons". I like them. I also made a cover for my kindle finally! It opens up like a book, and holds the kindle in place with 4 pieces of elastic - one at each corner. The fabric also makes me happy :)

I am still currently working on a chevron crochet blanket (that I havent touched in a few weeks) and a cross-stitch project (that I havent touched in over a week). So I need to get on it! I also bought a bunch of stuff to start making jewelry, but I havent actually tackled a project yet...

Overall, even though I didnt hit all of my goals, I still feel really good about everything! I lost 3lbs in the month of July (5lbs total in the past 6 weeks) and I feel really good about that!

Also, I ran 68.25 miles this month!

So, what are my goals looking like for August? Pretty similar, actually!

emoticon Strength train 2x per week

emoticon Yoga 1x per week (just do it already!)

emoticon Read 3 books

Some challenges I will face in August:
1) a week of court
2) travelling to San Francisco for a conference
3) travelling to two friends' weddings AND taking a week off work in between them to visit my parents
4) hitting long run miles I've never seen before!!

I'm excited, though! How are you feeling about August?
