Habits

I recently celebrated my 1 year anniversary with Sparkpeople--woo hoo!

I have lost 26 lbs in that year, but more importantly I started exercising more, eating more healthily, and just developing overall better habits for living a good life.

I hope to lose another 26lbs (or more) this next year--but truth be told I AM happy with the pace and progress to date. Even though I have fallen off the wagon many times, I still have gotten back on and have successes to celebrate.

Moving forward, I want to integrate better daily habits into each day. Here are 3 new habits I will commit to:

1. Meditation/Journaling first thing every morning. To get me grounded soon after I wake up I will spend a few minutes sitting quietly/meditating so as to come up with a"word for the day." I will then journal for 1-5 minutes on that word and see what comes up.

This practice will help get me focused to start the day off mindfully. I recognize this will take about 10 minutes each morning, so if necessary I will get up a few minutes earlier.

2. I will commit to get at least 7 hours of sleep per night. This means figuring out what time I need to get up the next morning and getting to bed at least 7 hours earlier. Sleep restores body, mind and soul--all which lead to my living healthfully.

3. I will stop mid-way when eating to ask myself, "do I want/need more?" If so, I will have it. If not, I will feel satisfiend and move on. This practice will get me more in tune with what my body really wants/needs.
