Yesterday, I spent the afternoon with Mom. She was a little depressed when I got there and she kept apologizing for being a pain and taking my time. I just kept assuring her that I enjoyed spending time alone with her. I promised her that I will come over next Tuesday to take her to get her hair cut. I will see if there is any other place she needs to go or if I can do anything for her.

It's hard to think that parents age and sometimes need help. But it's time to be honest and know that both my mom and my first mother-in-law need help now. As I am setting up my new schedule, I will schedule in time for both of them.

I went to an estate sale yesterday. The older lady was moving in with her daughter, so she was getting rid of a lot of things that she had collected through the years. It got me really thinking, especially since I had just left my mother's house. I need to weed out what I have. I would love to help Mom and mother-in-law do the same. I know this will have to be done tactfully, but I will come up with something to say to be able to do it.

It's easier for us to do it then to have our parents do But you need to think about it now so if the time comes that mom is moving in with you later, it would be less stressful...doesn't mean that is going to happen, or happen anytime soon...but why wait to see if it to start now...good luck :)

So many people live their later years alone. I love that you are giving so much of yourself to your mother AND to your first mother-in-law.

It is great you are spending your time helping those you care about! You will need to be tactful downsizing what they have had over the years.

Downsizing will also make life easier. I continue to eliminate unneeded things as I adjust to my health issues.
