So my plan worked well and I got everyone to "party" out in the outdoor living room. I stayed out there for a while chatting but since I was the only one not drinking went to bed to read around 10pm and they continued on. It's funny when family gets together...those that drink seem to drink a bit more...just the family dynamics I guess. And of course since I can't drink I notice more how people's personalities change. Well it's quiet here this morning. Everyone still in bed. We had a nice rain this morning so the lake is smiling.

I am getting ready to walk the dogs and then go get a facial. I think the company all wants to hang around the pool today. Good thing the sun is coming out.

Hope all of you are doing just great.
Have a terrific day.
Sallie

That outdoor living room is so beautiful! I remember having seen pictures of it on another of your blogs and love the way it brings a gorgeous, rustic interior into the great outdoors :) I'm sure everyone's really enjoyed it, too! It's been some time since I drank any alcohol, since I take acetaminophen every day for pain control and am unable to take over-the-counter anti-inflammatories. So it's my only alternative, since I'd like to stay away from prescription painkillers, and it's probably not a good idea to have any alcohol with regular acetaminophen intake. It's strange to be around drinkers and listen to the conversational volume level go up and up, almost as if alcohol intake got in the way of one's hearing.

Facials are such soothing, wonderful ways to care for the self! I hope you had an enjoyable one. Your face looks fantastic!

A facial! That's one of my ultimate rewards, Sallie! Never had one but surely it must be an ultimate luxury!?!

There sure are many aspects to the changes medical issues place on our lifestyles, huh?! Oh, indeed, I can relate to your observations! Even those who seldom drink do 'act differently' when they get together and have a nip...or two...or? so those of us who don't drink alcohol or only sip a miniscule amount really do see the differences as the drinks flow into the others. Interacting with people who are drinking is just not the same as communicating with them 'normally'!

Since I've never been into alcohol (due to medicine that doesn't mix well), I never experienced what you are experiencing now: a changed perception of events, of changed (by alcohol) personalities! On many occasions I've felt other people reacted differently to me BECAUSE I don't/can't drink. So. I tend to have beverages that LOOK like theirs. But when their behavior is alcohol-inspired, I'd really rather be elsewhere.

Yeah, I noticed when I stopped drinking that the conversation just was not as funny or enjoyable anymore. That has been many, many years now. I still don't drink, except for the extremely rare sip of wine.

Glad everyone had a good time. I'm not a "drinker" either and I agree that people change when alcohol is involved. Some get very happy and some don't. Good for you for putting your health first. I am also a 10 o'clock bedtimer. It just makes me happier when I get enough sleep. When mom's happy, everyone is happy!

Have a great day.

I'm with you on the not drinking & would have done the same. Sounds nice to get away and have some alone time, especially during full house :)

Glad everyone had a good time. So true, not being much of a drinker myself I have observed the same change in personalities as the evening wears on...
I have little tolerance for people who indulge beyond what is reasonable.

Good for you putting your health first and sticking to your plan! You can't take care of company if you are over tired and not feeling well! I guess I am lucky alcohol has never been a factor in my family gatherings.
Glad the weather is turning nice for the pool party -enjoy!
