I would have never seen me walking a 5k, but I have. Never would have seen me walking a 6k, but I have. When have I walked these you ask? The answer: Not when I was at my skinniest! Yep, I walked them when I weighed 300+ pounds!
10k in my future? Would have never imagined it; well, until tonight that is.
My friend and I have been walking every night for the last 6 nights. 3 miles a night or so. Tonight, we decided that we would walk our regular route twice! Seemed like a good idea! We were both full of energy at the time we decided. So we start our walk.
When we get halfway through the first part of our route, I say, "'let's walk straight on, until we feel like turning around to end our walk." Before we know it, we are across town(I live on the farthest east side of town), we were at the west side of town(approx 3.5 miles from my house). We decided we would turn and walk back toward my house.
We kept walking. Soon we were coming to the hill that we had to climb to get to my house. As exhausted as we thought we were, we walked right up that hill.
When we arrived at my house, endomondo(an app on my phone) said we walked a 3 mph pace & 20.5 min/mile!
How many miles you are wondering?? 6 miles! 2 hours and 5 minutes!
Am I ready for a 10k? Maybe after more walking/training. But now I know nothing is impossible. I know now that I should never doubt myself or think I can't do something.
Imagining it is the first step to accomplishing it.
