Wheeling and dealing- big radio contact tonight!

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Hump day for our vacation. We took my mom out for breakfast today and then to the chiropractor. Both she and I had an adjustment. Then we dropped off an old computer and monitor at the recycling place. Took her home and then back out again for a few more errands. Jim tried on some shoes he thought he would like, but decided he didn't like them once he had them on. They were Keen shoes, not sandals, but not shoes. Thought they would be like the Keen's he has, but these were looser and not the same. So went to the Radio Shop and got a the ARRL 2013 Handbook for Jim. Stopped at Menard's and got some shelving for the garage project.

When we got home I painted the pegboard in the garage white so it would brighten up the space. Jim thought I was nuts, but it really made a difference. Ending up putting on two coats of white paint so I really got a good workout. Took longer than I thought, but was worth it I think. Figured if it wasn't done now, it would never get done once we got everything back in place. Used some white paint we already had and only had to get a cheapie roller and tray liner for a total of $5-$6 spent and some of my time.

Went to a shooting friends tonight to look at a .22 target rifle. Very impressed, worked out a nice deal for that and took it home to hug and fondle. Now Jim had a nice one too. The trigger on this one is so nice and light. Almost a s nice as my Vostok target rifle.

Listening to the Ham radio tonight- Jim just made a radio contact to Kawait! Total miles for the contact is 6757 miles. WOW. All with a 100 feet of wire for an antenna. Very cool.

I love Keen shoes. I have walking boots, walking shoes, and sandals. They are great for people with wide toes. My podiatrist recommended them.
