Nice to be back!

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

I'm back! A month-of-July hiatus was just what I needed. Rather than gaining weight while I was away, somehow I actually lost one pound--go figure.

My mind and body feel much more in sync now; I feel ready to shed these last 16 lbs. All through June, my body felt resistant, and I'm glad I listened instead of continuing to fight it and making myself miserable.

Those neck and shoulder problems that plagued me for weeks have cleared up, thanks to an excellent massage therapist. I'm doing yoga now, to gradually release the lingering tightness on my left side.

Fresh goals: try stand-up paddle-boarding and Zumba in August; go kayaking; do group yoga in the park every Saturday morning; and strengthen/deepen various friendships through shared activities.

This week, I'm also on track to run 3x for the first time in a month, thanks to unseasonably cool weather. It'll take me a while to get back to 30 minute runs, but that's where I want to be by early September, when I start 5K to 10K training. Some friends are running a 3.75 mile race at the end of October, and I plan to join them for that.

It feels good to be back, and just knowing that I had a supportive SP network to return to was a comfort. There's plenty of summer left, and much to look forward to!

Seems like these "vacations" from SP was very rewarding.

    Enjoy your fresh goals!
