Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Sometimes it seems the world gets us distracted so we will do nothing. The things and people of the world tend to lead us to do the worldly things rather than godly things. And when we do more, others tell us to slow down. When we do above average things, others think we are nuts. When we do God’s will, others mock us. However, when we do God’s will, He will help us to stand firm. When we stand firm and do what God requires us to do, the world we know that we love God and are willing to obey Him.

Luke 21:19 “By standing firm, you will win your souls.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, help us today to stand firm in obedience to You. You have a purpose for us to teach the world about You. Our purpose is not for us to conform to the world but to become like Christ and put Your will above the will of the world and worldly people. Help us to do what You require of us so others will come to know You as well. Let others see Jesus in us, today, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

John 14:31a “but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father.” (NLT)

When the world tells us to do nothing, God is telling us to do something.

We can’t serve the world and serve God at the same time.

God put us here to work for Him, not to be distracted by the things of the world.

Our purpose on earth is to obey God’s word and to teach others to obey His word as well.

Matthew 28:20 “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (NLT)
