To fitbit or not to fitbit?

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

That is the question. I think it could be the thing for me but I'm not sure. If you have one what do you think of it? Also I can't figure the difference between a Fitbit One and the Fitbit Zip.

I can't even tell you all how terribly embarrassed I am that I'm up to 167 pounds. I went inactive during the Spring to Summer 5% Challenge because my son was getting very sick. He is better now but he had to do two overnight hospital stays and the lack of sleep was causing me to make the worst food choices ever. I mean I just eat junk when I don't sleep. So I'm resolving to get more sleep because I've realized how important it is to my goals. I need to deal with stress better too. I mean reaching for the nearest box of cookies clearly isn't working.

I hope you son is better.
The difference between the fitbit one and the fit bit zip is the sleep monitoring function. The fitbit one monitors your sleep, and the gives a report on how efficient your sleep is based on how many times it perceives you to be awake during the night.
I have the fit bit one and I love it.
I hope that helps. good luck on your journey. emoticon

emoticon is one of the hardest things for me, too... I don't even have kids yet, so I'm worried what it will be like when I do have kids.

Take it one step at a time.

I have a FitBit One. It's a good value for the price if you use all the features. Otherwise it's an expensive cool toy. It is very accurate even when walking on stairs. It's also a good incentive to walk a little further. I don't use the sleep feature. I don't sync it on Sparks because I can put more information on an Excel sheet. If you haven't used a pedometer, my suggestion is you buy a very inexpensive one and see if you use it. Then you can make an informed decision if a Fit Bit is for you .

Hope your son is better soon.
Get a fitbit One. It has got me doing more.
Re junk food, I carry home made trail mix in my purse, which I can combine with a banana if I get hungry in town. I wonder if something like that would reduce your problem of filling up on junk food when under stress? Obviously you need to make your preparations when not under stress!
Instant comfort foods can also be an alternative to junk. Something like 5 ingredient soup you can throw together in 5 mins, heat it up for another 5, and you have several meals worth. Or pasta, a jar of sauce, and lots of veg, e.g. zucchini, mixed in. I have just decided its better to pay for a jar of sauce than to wait for weeks till I have the energy to make my own...
