August Goals

I have decided to pay myself for exercising! I donít have a lot to spare (you will know that if you read the other blog), but I think I can pull this off, heck I know I can!

This is my daily exercise routine & yes, I found this on Pinterest! Feel free to follow me (Patriciaintx).
* 10 Push-Ups
* 10 Sit-Ups
* 25 Squats
* 10 Lunges Per Leg / 20 Total
* 50 Jumping Jacks
* 30 Second Plank
* 60 Second Wall Sit

As the month progresses & I build my stamina up, I will add in increments of 5 to each exercise. How I will pay myself is $0.01 for each repetition. That may not sound like much, but I did the math & to just do what is listed there for 31 days is $63.55 or something close to that.

I plan on putting that money back for a treadmill. That way I can start adding in my cardio.

I will work on continuing the following streaks for August also:
* No trips to the vending machine
* No Soda
* No Sugar, by sugar I mean cakes, pie, cookies, etc.
* Take Meds Daily
* Exercise 10 min./day, havenít been doing very good on this one, heck havenít been doing it at all. That is why I need the motivation.
* No potatoes . . . I am trying to kick the potato habit, just a start to working towards better nutrition. I do good for a couple of days then I crash!

Sounds like some awesome goals to me!! Of course I have set goals before only to fail. I get side tracked, I get tired, something makes me upset, etc. This time I am hoping that with all of the support from all my wonderful SparkFriends I can stay on track for the month. I feel, as I have always felt in the past, if I can just get back into the habit of exercising regularly, that I will feel better, as well as begin to look better!!

    I once heard a saying, "Not having goals is like throwing darts at a dart board while blindfolded." Having goals opens up your focus and gives you a lazer like target!

    Great goals for August! Once you start, keep telling yourself: "I better do this, I better do this, I better do this," and, hopefully, you'll stay on track. Okay, you have now motivated me to at least start my goal of walking 15 minutes on the treadmill everyday. It doesn't sound like much, but it's a good start for me.

    I think that's a great idea to pay yourself for each rep--I need to do that for cardio. Like 5 cents per 5 minutes. My cardio has been somewhat MIA this month.

    You can absolutely do this! What a brilliant idea. Just a reminder to make sure you're doing exercises that you enjoy and if you're not, don't be afraid to give yourself permission to try different ones. But I hope you find that you love these!

    Oh, Wow, Patricia! I think that is a fantastic idea! I KNOW you will be successful, just like you do! Remember, potatoes by themselves aren't bad! It's what you put on them! I eat a baked potato once in a while with the Lite Daisy Sour Cream on it, and that is it! It doesn't add many calories and tastes GREAT!!

    Great idea to pay yourself! Good plan.
I aim this week to do 100 jumping jacks a day, in 5 groups of 20. Plus bodysculpting and 28 day bootcamp programme for 5 weeks, slightly over, actually, as I missed a few days before I started workingnout first thing in the morning. I need to work out some goals for August...

    Wow, sounds like an awesome plan to me! I need to sit down and write mine up too. I know that it really can help with seeing things written down. I love your $ idea! Sounds awesome too! Over a year ago to encourage me, I would put $1.00/day if and only if I stayed within my ranges. Every one of them and I've earned quite a bit over time. And then I forgot about my little game because I wasn't earning the $ so much and now I feel that I should get smack right back into it and thanks for your blog reminding me of that. emoticon emoticon emoticon It's time once again for me to earn $ too!     Sounds like a great plan - I hope you end up having to pay yourself on a regular basis! I like having a treadmill, then I have no excuse to get my cardio in on a really rainy or cold day. I've been pretty good about exercising since the beginning of the year and now I have a goal to get 12,000 steps in a day, which I've only come up short a couple of days. Now I'm trying to train for a 10k because my neighbor talked me into signing up for it. Now I have a schedule I'm determined to stick to and a little under 9 weeks to get ready.

    Good plan and yes - you'll feel better and look better. If you can stick to a workout plan for about two weeks, it become a habit, effectively second nature and you feel like something important is missing from your day if you skip it. i'm working on getting to that place and I wish it for you.
