I Finished the 30 Day Shred

I did it! I finished the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred! Today was my last day of that workout, and I am so proud of myself for sticking to it all month long. Tomorrow is going to be a rest day, but I'm already looking ahead and planning for a healthy August.

I did make progress for the first two weeks of doing the Shred. I don't weigh myself, but I could tell I had lost some weight just by the way I felt, and by the fit of my clothes. One day I realized that I could take my jeans off without even unbuttoning them, and that was an awesome NSV! What a thrill...I was finally over the plateau! But then about ten days ago, I started sabotaging myself by binge eating. I was stuffing myself with junk food, and I wasn't even hungry. Heck, I wasn't even enjoying what I was eating! But all that binge eating seems to have put back on any weight I have lost this month, because once again my clothes are telling the story. My jeans are tighter! But I have been writing about my feelings in my personal diary, and I realize what is going on to make me feel the need to binge. I am struggling, but I will come out stronger and I will beat the binge! And I will get back to losing again. I will never give up on myself!

Anyway, this month was not a total wash. I did make progress with the Shred. My endurance and strength have definitely increased. The workout was super hard, but I stuck with it and I can feel that I have built muscle. There's still a lot of flab covering those muscles but they're there! I just need to get control of my eating, and keep working out. I've lost 71 lbs since last year, and I'd like to ultimately lose 71 lbs. more.

My plan for August is to eat as healthy as possible, and to continue working out hard. I have three workouts planned for August. I will be doing Violet Zaki's Weight Loss Cardio Kick 5 to 6 days a week;

I will also be doing Richard Simmons Disco Sweat every other day. He's a little exuberant, but I think this workout looks like fun;

And on the days I don't do Disco Sweat, I'll be doing 10 Minute Solutions Rapid Results Pilates;

I think thats a pretty good mix...I sure won't get bored! Well, I never get bored with exercise. I truly do love to workout! Thats the easiest aspect of a healthy lifestyle for me, but now I need to work on the dietary part.

    Congrats on completing the Shred - that is awesome!
I had a similar experience earlier this year, where I did the C25K (Couch to 5k) workout program. I started off great, and started getting some nice weight loss...but then something went wrong, and I started to binge too. I felt like I was sabotaging myself. I felt like, 'well, I'm a runner now, I don't need to be so careful with my food". When will I learn?
Thanks for always being there and helping us to know we're not alone, Pixie.
You ROCK!! emoticon

  I love reading your blogs, they are very encouraging. I am the opposite of you, for the most part I don't have a problem with my diet but no matter want I do I can not get myself to stick to working out. I can start a workout plan and even enjoy it but then after 2 or 3 weeks I just get tired of working out and start making excuses. It is great to read about someone who, even though they struggled at times, has had such great success overcoming their challenges.
Great job!!

the binge thing happened to me today too, could it be our muscles needing these foods? oh well we will do better.

    Sounds like a familiar pattern. I used to binge eat after a big success in my weight loss, but now I am getting it under control

    Glad to hear your figuring things out Pixie. Sometimes the private journaling lets us dig a little deeper into things we just don't feel like letting the world know about. Sounds like you have a "kick butt" fitness routine planned for August emoticon

    Hi Pixie! Sorry I missed this blog! CONGRATS on finishing the 30 day shred. I will have to start it after the ankle surgery in October......don't want to get too strenuous as I am still doing chair exercises with the achilles tendon injury. Its feeling a lot better but want to behave. Boot is onanother 2 1/2 weeks. YOU are doing great. I like your exercise plan for August!! YOU are the best Pixie!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon June

    Congrats on finishing the 30 day shred! I'm sure Jillian isn't nearly as tough on her exercise DVDs as she is on the Biggest Loser. I would still like to have her as a trainer and have some of her DVDs. Your new exercises sound like a winning plan!

    They say variety is the spice of life and good for keeping the body off balance so you keep progressing. Good for you, for sticking with it and keeping your goals in sight.

    July seems to have been a hard month for many!! I lost 7 lbs last month just to binge the last 3 days of it to regain 5 lbs of that!

AGH!!!

Back on track today....seems so silly now..I too wasn't hungry....wasn't enjoying the food I was stuffing in my body...but yet I did it!! Need to deal with things differently next time ;)

    Outstanding accomplishment, hope you stick with it and finds ways to avoid a binge. Come up with a plan to counter whatever you think may lead to one. You might need a person to call so they can talk you out of it. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Awesome, Pixie! You finished the shred AND you worked out what drove the bingeing. Those extra muscles will burn through the weight you put on lickedy splt! And now you know how to beat the binge, too. It's a win win for July!
