A day after

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

I already posted this on 17 day diet's daily check-in thread, but I thought it was good to post it here as well:

Good morning everyone!

Well, tropical storm/hurricane Flossie is now history! This island escaped with out any damage and right now we are simply experiencing winds that are higher than normal and slightly disorganized. The sunrise this morning was spectacular!

It is interesting for me to note about myself, that when anything threatening lurks such as tropical storm Flossie, I tend to want to "squirrel" food. I don't know if that's a carryover from World War II days when food sources were scarce, or even earlier when I suffered abuse by starvation as an infant. This is a self observation and I'm glad it occurred to me because it is something I do have to work on.

Back to the storm preparation, I did buy nonperishable's including peanut butter and now I don't need it! (Anybody need any peanut butter?)

Off to work with me... I hope everyone is having a great day!

Absolutely squirrel away ... I've been in several hurricanes and we were prepared as mom would keep cases of canned goods and peanut butter on hand .... we ate many meals without electricity ... always had neighbors that were ill prepared .... even now I keep at least 80 lbs of charcoal in my shed for cooking !! It is always wise to squirrel away food for disaster.
