I can’t believe it’s been a year since I’ve joined Sparkpeople. This community has the perfect formula for my success. Everything I need is here. Workout videos, Food tracker, Support, Recipes, Sparkfriends, Motivation …. So much information and it all free! No one is trying to sell me anything! No magic pill. No fad diet!
I started a year ago by following these basic rules:
-Tracking my food
At first it wasn’t easy… Tracking your food can be a pain until you get used to doing it. I nearly drove my hubby crazy cause he did all the cooking, and I was always asking how much of this and how of that did you use. Now he measures and weights everything and never throws out food wrappers until I’ve recorded the calorie info. Now tracking my food is second nature.
-Drinking 8 glasses of water a day
Drinking 8 glasses of water wasn’t so bad, and now I normally drink more. I’ve never been a pop drinker and can’t handle a lot of coffee. I loved drinking juice so it was easy to make the switch to water.
-Working out on a regular bases
I have no issues with cardio. I started running and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever tried. At first I could only run for 2 minutes and can now run 5k without any issues. I run at least 3 days a week at 5 am in the morning (something I never thought I would do). I also walk and try to do strength training on a regular bases. I know there is room for improvement with my workout routine but I also know eventually I will find the right balance. Also my Fitbit has been the best gift I’ve ever received. It keeps me motivated… I try every day to get 10,000+ steps and I love the friendly competition with my Fitbit friends.
Day after day I followed the rules and slowly the weight started to come off. Day after day I started to feel better about myself. Day after day it became habit for me.
My life has changed so much over this last year and I love it!!
I’ve lost 43 lbs!!
Went from a size 12-14 to a size 6-8!!
I can Run!!
I learned how to control my food, and not to look at it as a reward!!
I feel Strong and Healthy!!
I’m in the best shape of my life!!
I’ve learned being positive and being happy are all in my control.
My hubby is eating healthier and he is starting to workout with me.
I have a 5K Mud run at the beginning of September. I am worried that I'm not strong enough to complete some of the obstacles but I guess I wont know till I try.
My goal for this next year is to work on my strength and endurance. I want to be able to run 10k by next summer.
