A Long Time Gone

Yeah, life totally kicked my butt and Spark hit the bottom of the to-do list for a while. I'm working on sorting out some details though and hopefully when school starts this year, I won't be living on the edge of panic mode.

So, there has been some good and some bad. Let's get the bad out of the way - my weight is up. It's up around 180lbs which is not pretty. Clothes are too tight and a few items don't fit at all. Hubs and I have been pretty bad over the last year about eating too many fun meals or having too much extra desserts and such things. It could be worse, but it's not really good.

Now, the good. My exercise routines are kickin' some serious butt. I'm in the gym 3-4 days a week pretty consistently, and I'm lifting good, heavy weights. I have lots of muscle. Sometimes, I can even see it under the fat. I'm still running very consistently. I've done a number of small races as well as the half-marathon in February. I'm signed up for two more half marathons at Disney, The Wine and Dine and the Princess, and I'm also doing the Glass Slipper challenge with the Princess, which means I'll run a 10K the day before the half.

I've switched almost entirely to Vibrams for running and I love them. They took some getting used to, but the toe separation has pretty much solved my bunion issue, while the barefoot sole forces me to work and keep my pronation under control

Fortunately, summer is all about fresh food and farmer's markets, so I'm upping my fruit and veggie content and trying to keep my starches super-minimal. We also bought a grill, which means lots more meat and veggie meals with minimal complicated prep.

Anyway, I'm getting back on track, working out the details, and am serious about checking in. I leave you with the Dixie Chicks.

    Yay! I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering what was up with you. Good to hear you're still working out. What are your plans to help you regulate your eating better?
