Sleep would not come

Monday, July 29, 2013

I did not sleep well last night. It was cool, but I was too hot. I finally got up and had some ice water thinking that I was dehydrated. That did not work. It is so frustrating.

I love to watch Dr. Oz, and his show today was about sleep issues. I did not realize that turning on bright lights before bed could disturb my sleep rhythm. That is why televisions should not be in bedrooms. Lights from alarm clocks can disturb sleep.

As I listened to his show, I realized tht I do not have a normal sleep routine. I do not prepare myself for sleep. I need to get into a regular pattern.

On weekends, I am not supposed to sleep extra hours. It only takes 2 days to change sleep patterns....

Wowd..I have a lot to learn about sleep.

I never had sleep issues until I reached my 50s. It's a crap shoot for me most nights. I've gotten into the habit of reading for at least 15 minutes before going to sleep but, I must admit, sometimes I do fall asleep with the tv on. Oh my!

Sleep, for most people, is taken for granted. It has always been a huge issue for me. I was finally diagnosed with an illness that one of the symptoms is a sleep disorder. It is so much better, but still not the best. Try all those things, but if they don't work, insist that your GP send you to have a sleep study. emoticon

I wish that was my problem but it is not that! I just can't go to bed since my husband passed and am up most of the night. I start to fall asleep with the sun comes up.

I had the same problem. I fell asleep around 3 a.m. and then the dog needed to go out at 5 a.m. Went back to sleep for a few hours and felt sluggish all day.
