I saw the cardiologist this morning and had great news.
My blood pressure is 100/62. He is not sure as to why last week I had the high blood pressure and chest pains but he said it is not heart related...as in heart problems. He said it could have been the combination of over stressing myself out with work and walking in the extremely high heat we had. I may have been dehydrated regardless of the amount of water I do drink...64 ounces each day! This could have been attributed to the reason why the ER technicians had such a hard time finding a vein for the IV port.
He asked me why I did not opt for the treadmill when I had my stress test. I told him that I can barely jog a quarter mile without my heart rate going sky high, out of breath, and in pain in my chest, neck, and lower jaw. (the chemical stress test brought out these pains too....). He thinks it could be lung related as in asthma. He called it, "exercise induced asthma". Sort of sounds like I am allergic to exercising! LOL
He also told me that I do not need to be on any sodium restrictions. In fact, he told me that a little bit of salt would help my blood pressure! So, I guess I won't need to really follow the DASH diet program! The doctor also said to keep losing the weight and continue with my walking.
Yesterday, my husband took notice of what I was doing on this website. We went for a walk and I ended up telling him what the website was all about and how much I lost thus far. He seems to be supportive. Yay!
