Puerto Rican food and weightloss are like oil and water and more oil. And some fat too.

I am a mixture of hispanic and German-Jewish. I got the ability to get a good tan, but I have to work at it a little more than pure hispanics, dark eyes and hair
Let me explain to you how freaking awesome family dinners are. Schnintzel and Latkes, and arroz con pollo and mofongo, Saurbraten and Bratwurst, gandules with chorizo, spatzle and streudel, tostones and flan....you get the drift.
I am pretty good at making good decisions; load my plate with salad first, then eat a little bit of everything.
Yesterday, my mom and stepdad had his entire family over for a big puerto rican dinner. It was...amazing. Empanadias, roast pork, tostones saffron rice, gandules, and flan. I also had 2 coronas, because it was a million degrees out, and although I hadn't had all my water, a corona with lime was just too tempting. To be fair, I DID eat a big plate of salad. I also had some of everything else, including 4 tostones and 2 empanadias...
I probably would have been ok, except yesterday was my rest day, so I didn't have the extra room in calories.
So, I actually went over my BMR calories for the day. I was not happy.
Today was weigh-in. I gained 2lbs! As I explained before, my diet has been a little all over the place lately, so I am not too surprised, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.
I did an hour of cycling, and 15 minutes on the elliptical.
Areas that need improvement: More fruits/veggies, especially greens and MORE SLEEP. I hate having things left on my to-do list, but lately its been making me get to bed very late, which is compounding the issue! I am adhering to a strict 10pm bedtime from here on.
