Weekly Update #8 - Company and Cheating

After being sick the previous week, I did not do my weekly weigh in and measurements last Monday. And since we had company on and off nearly the entire week, I was ready for a very unpleasant surprise when I did my weekly weigh in and measurements. I did not totally hold back when we went out to eat and I served lasagna and garlic bread for dinner one night, not exactly a low calorie, low fat option. One night, we went to a Mexican restaurant where I had chips and salsa and a large stein of beer along with my meal. Needless to say, I cheated.
Imagine my surprise when the scale showed that I had held my weight loss from the previous weeks. This particular weight has been a plateau in the past, so that may be part of it. Seriously, if I had continued to eat like I had this past week, I would start putting it back on. So I am happy to have maintained. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good and I chalk it up to being lucky. Now back to the program.
Water consumption continues to be great. It gets easier the longer you regularly drink eight glasses per day. I try to get two glasses in the very first thing each morning. My exercise (walking with an occasional jog thrown in) is going very well and I credit that with my being able to maintain this past week when I was cheating on my diet.
Here is the tale of the tape and the scale:
Pounds lost: 6 (through week 9)
Inches lost from waist: 1.25 (through week 9)
Inches lost from hips: 2.5 (through week 9)
Consecutive days drinking 8 glasses of water: 56
Consecutive weeks exercising 150 minutes/week: 9
All in all, it was a great week. We had so much fun seeing our two sets of visitors that I simply did not worry about cheating. Sometimes you just have to allow yourself that little luxury.
