Me Time (with photos)

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Well my DS(autistic /bi-polar) went off with his aide today. He seemed excited which made me glad for him that he was able to experience a positive emotion today. He chose , The Lone Ranger & Pizza Hut after. When he told me he wanted to see the Lone Ranger I instantly started Duddlunt, duddalunt , duddlelunt da da da lunt da da daduddle dunt ! As I rode my invisible Silver around the kitchen ! emoticon

He yelled , NO , Ma ! you can't do that ! emoticon
Okay , maybe it's not the autism with this one. What would I have done in my 20's if my mother started doing that ?

Anyway, off he went. I would LOVE to go on a bike ride or a hike in the forest, but he's still unstable & I can't go far in case his aide needs my help. So I was just gonna sit around here. No other choice, right. I thought, wrong! Make the best of the situation you are given. it's still a blessing of time for him & you so don't take it for granted.
I went to the city where I can park my car within 5 minutes walking distance in any direction. Found a couple little treasure spots that have some of Gods natural wonders left. Got to breath in some fresh air, take in some beauty & read from a book on a bench overlooking the lake.

Lake Champlain, NY the land on the other side is Vermont

Monument of Samuel de Champlain , hence the name of the lake

The Plattsburgh, NY monument & park.Atop sits the American eagle

Good for you to find your bit of joy and peace today!

Loved the image of you dancing around the kitchen...and yes, I think your son's reaction is EXACTLY what mine would have been at his age!

Hope your day today is filled with as much wonder and as much relaxation as was the bit of your yesterday that you've shared here.

I am SO glad I stopped by your page to read your blog, my friend. This is really inspirational! We all have bad days, bad moments, etc., etc., but like you said - we still have choices within those days and moments.

I didn't know your son was autistic/bipolar and that's tough. I am glad you have some help and I hope you can go out, by yourself or with friends, once in a while. I just love this blog because you remind me that we all have choices about our attitude about things. God bless your beautiful spirit. emoticon emoticon

You made a good decision on the "me time" it looks and sounds like. I hope you were able to enjoy it. I am sure I would have done something quite like you with the galloping around (lol). I can't wait to get to know you and your family more. You are right when you said we have some things in common. Enjoy your week. emoticon

I love dancing around and freaking my kids out. LOL!

I'm so glad you were able to get away for a while. ME time is so important as I have discovered this week. Changes my whole outlook and that is what his aide is for...for you and him to have time away from each other! Keep it up.

What did you think of the movie? My DD is a huge Johnny Depp fan so I was thinking about taking her. Oh wait...I think I read it wrong. He saw the movie with his aide, right?

P.S. at 13, my boy would die if I danced around like that, so yeah, that was just a son thing.

These are beautiful pictures, I am so glad you are sharing some of your backyard with us. Is the place in the last picture as steep as it looks? That and the monument would get you some floors climbed for sure. You could be Rocky!! The lake is beautiful. Thanks again for sharing, and I am glad you had a nice day with some time to yourself.
