Rough Week and a new Recipe - Paleo Crab Cakes

Well, I lost three pounds this week.. and I should be on my knees thanking God because this week sucked. For the first time since 3/2/13, I was under an unbelievable amount of stress at work which meant 3 nights of very little sleep and the impulse to use food to relieve the stress.. had these impules been combined with the old "dark gnawing hunger" before beginning to eat Paleo and I would have succumbed.. but I did not.. I held firm to both my nutrional and physical plans.. no deviation.. none.. Add that the CrossFit games are this week, so my coach is in California - which means I had to take regular classes which is pretty much out of my comfort zone.. silly, really.. cuz everyone is very nice.. but what I've found is that I do not work as hard there as I do with my coach.. which I need to learn! and I will.. but can't I learn when I'm not under so much stress at work, please? ARGH

Best WOD of the week was the "Lumber Jack 20":
20 100lb deadlifts (RXd)
run 400m (I rowed 500m)
20 KB swings (RXd with a pood and a half - 53lbs)
run 400m (I rowed 500m)
20 burpees (I did box squats - I can't do burpees due to achiles tendonitis)
run 400m (I rowed 500m)
20 pullups (I did 20 ring rows)
run 400m (I rowed 500m)
20 box jumps (I did 20 step ups with all the step downs on my left leg cuz of achilles)
run 400m (i rowed 500m)
Time limit 30 minutes.. This was the first WOD that I substituted movements but NOT reps!! (i.el I did 20 ring rows for 20 pullups not 10 ring rows for 20 pullups) *AND* I finished in under the time limit at 29:45!!!! I was very excited!

I slept good last night.. and have my head on straight again.. so BRING IT ON! LOL

Today I made a great Paleo recipe. Peppered Crab Cakes .. it's from Love & Primal blog (
) The only thing I changed was that I omitted the yogurt (I don't do dairy) and replaced it with an egg white..

You can make the recipe for 4 servings or 6 servings.. here's the nutrition on both

    Are you going to be able to do Paleo in Africa? I must try that recipe! Thanks for sharing it and for sharing how you handled your stressful week without diving back into old habits! (I'm not there yet)

    What changes have you noticed going Paleo? I am wheat and sugar free but still do grains, dairy and legumes. I feel great and can't believe the difference. I am a Crossfit soon-to-be. There isn't an affiliate nearby but some crossfit trainers who have a gym/box. When money allows I will be there! I can't wait. Great job on pushing through this week - not going back to old habits. emoticon

    OH WOW - given that you've already reached and exceeded your 'vacation' goal, it would have been SO EASY for your 'bad girl' (do you have one? I do!) to talk you into using food for comfort!!! But you didn't - so this week you are even MORE my hero than you were last week - and that's saying something!! You ROCK!! Kudos and then some to you!! emoticon
