RAGBRAI Conquered

Sunday, July 28, 2013

It took 7 days and 430+ miles, but RAGBRAI was conquered. Overall, it was not too bad. The most challenging was Day #2. It consisted of 110 miles and 5900 feet of climbing. The rest of the ride was 50 to 64 miles daily. Met some incredibly nice folks after each of the rides. BTW, on Day 2 I saw Lance Armstrong's entourage go by me at blazing speed. Since I try to stay away from crowds, I left at 5:45 each day and tried not to stop until the end of the daily ride. Had some rhubarb pie, pork chop at 8:30 AM, great pulled pork, and super ribs. If you have not done it, put it in your ditty bag. It's well worth it. HOOAAA!!

That's terrific!! I can't imagine going those kinds of distances... and the climbing, too!

Glad to see you are doing Hotter n Hell in a few weeks. I looked at it, but I don't think I can make it work. Still looking though! And, here in Houston we are hitting 100 multiple times this week so you might be in for a very hot ride!

Hi! I am a member of the SP Community Team and most of my friends here in SP are women so I was looking for a blog written by a guy and here I am! emoticon

I love your page and your enthusiasm. I am hoping to get into biking someday. I have MS and my balance isn't the greatest sometimes so I am hoping to find a bike I can ride safely around town, to start. Your page is great and your stamina for riding all those miles daily is amazing. emoticon

Have a wonderful day. emoticon emoticon

WOO HOO!!! Congratulations. DH rode in a Lance Armstrong fundraiser ride about 5 years ago, riding along side him for 5-6 miles....DH wasn't impressed with him.

Glad you had a great experience!
