Goodbye to two friends
Saturday, July 27, 2013
Just found out that two friends passed.
One - a charismatic, talented street musician and former public school music teacher - actually has been gone since 2011, and I just didn't know, till yesterday.
He was in his early 70s; played tenor sax and other woodwinds. I hadn't seen him yet this summer (nor last summer, really), and it dawned on me this wasn't like him. I always ran into him in at least one of three central locations around Washington, DC. Just outside Farragut North Metro (at K Street), at Farragut West Metro (18th and "I"), or at Eastern Market. RIP, James C. "Kenyatta" Palmore...
My other friend, Sputnik Kilambi, was an international journalist and journ educator from India. She passed a few days ago, in Paris.
I'll always feel honoured to call each of them my friend.
