Tommy Jr. arrives today

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Looking forward to meeting his new gal. She is a lieutenant in the coast guard in Seattle so she should have some interesting stories. My DH and I were boaters for like 16 years when we lived in the Seattle area. We had a 50 foot boat and towed a 17 foot SeaRay to run around in after anchoring out. We sure had a lot of fun during those years and saw many things that one could only see by boat. One time for sure that sticks out in my memory is when we came upon a pod of killer whales. They were simply beautiful. So it will be fun to hear about that world again.

We will be going out to our favorite steak place tonight. I should be able to eat the corn, steak and salad...but unfortunately won't be able to have one of their tasty margaritas. Oh well, so is life! But looking forward to the tasty steak. Haven't had steak in a long time so I will eat only a little. I have lots of "cushion weight pounds" as my goal weight is 110 and this morning I weighed in at 104.5. My DH keeps wanting me to put weight on and I am eating fine but hard right now to keep the weight on. My DH brought this up with my autoimmune doctor the other day when we had an appointment and she told him not to worry that as long as I didn't continue to loose weight and could stay within my current range that it should be fine. It's typical she said of my disorders. Part of the problem is that I can't eat so many things that would normally put weight on. I know you all are wishing you had this problem...but trust me you don't!!! Being healthy is much more important.

Hope you all are doing terrific.
Have a wonderful week end.

Oh, what fun! Have a great time with Tommy, Jr., and his new girlfriend! She sounds like an accomplished young lady - most seaworthy, too! I think you'll all have a great time together. Your times on the boat sounded nothing short of idyllic, too! Here's to a great visit, and glad you've got a generous weight cushion to enjoy while they're in Mexico!

Yes, maintenance is a range. Lately I've been skirting the bottom end of my range, and thinking it would be better to gain a pound than lose another pound is familiar territory. I don't really need to gain right now, but it would be nice to have a cushion pound for when I'm able to start running again.

You are right that health is above vanity at all times. Nonetheless, I can't help but be just a little jealous that you are maintaining a low-healthy BMI without struggle. Of course I don't envy you the health issues that make you give up many calorie-dense foods. Enjoy your steak! You deserve it for sure. Have a great time reminiscing with your guests!! -Marsha

Being healthy IS the important thing. Needing to gain weight is as much a problem for that person as needing to lose weight is for someone overweight.

My husband and I have a 26 foot sailboat which we usually sail on the Columbia River (between Oregon and Washington), but often have taken to Puget Sound and sailed and anchored in the San Juan Islands. Enjoy the sea stories that are coming with your son's friend!

Have a great time with your company and a nice dinner! Sure hope you like her. BTW, it's been great boating weather here in Portland, no whales though.

Have a wonderful time with your family and enjoy your meal out.
Margaritas are highly overrated.. (even in Mexico!) focus on all the yummy things you can have and that keep you healthy :)

Sounds like a fun day ahead of you Sallie! Enjoy the steak.

Can't wait to hear more about the visit : )!
And yes you are right we should all appreciate our health more than the number on the scale ; ) I am sure it feels good to know you will not be going over goal weight any time soon though!
