Point to ponder

"I have no regrets in my life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build character, making you a much stronger person." ~ Rita Mero

I wonder at times what the reason is for hard times. Does it make you grow emotionally? When I think of the hard times I have had in life, I can look around me and see my life may have been a blessing as it made me grow just as this quote states. Do I still have regrets? YES but I pray it continues to help we grow into the person I am meant to be. I am a work in progress!!

Thank you all for stopping by and adding your thoughts as to this quote.

That is a wonderful quote from Rita Moreno. I have tried to live without regret. Although, I have not been able to put my thoughts into such a meaningful way as is related in your thought from Moreno.

I also believe hard times can make us stronger, especially if we turn to God for guidance and learn from the test.

What a wonderful blog Eileen. I"t will stay with me all day.

    HI Eileen,

I always felt that everything happens for a reason. We don't always know what that reason is, but most times we learn at a later date and time. I believe hard times make us grow stronger and that is essential as we get older and have to deal with sickness and death. Maybe it is God's way of preparing us. One thing I do know is that whenever times seem to get too hard, my prayers are ALWAYS answered and for that I am eternally grateful!!!

Great blog and very true. It seems we only learn when we are tested.

Regrets---sure have had a few. However, I choose to learn form them and move onward instead of wishing things would have, could have , should have been different. Life is too short to dwell on the past..

I've chosen to forgive myself and others rather than live with regrets

I regret plenty, but mostly it's regretting allowing others so much control over my life - with and without my permission. Unfortunately, I truly hate the saying that hard times create character and make people stronger - because I've had constant hard times all my life and I'm not of 'better character' or 'stronger, just completely damaged and destroyed. Instead, I find that hard times create hard lives, which causes everlasting wounds which make us have to do more on our own since people do not want to be around others with these wounds. The harder my life gets, the fewer people care or have any interest in helping me and instead have more intent to make my life even harder than it already is.

This sounds completely pessimistic, I know, but there is no good that comes out of having some of my medical conditions and having to face them alone is a huge kick in the teeth. People call me strong so they can throw off the guilt they feel when they have no interest in helping me (it's disgusting but it's true: "You're so strong. I could never deal with what you're dealing with. I don't even know what to say/do/think around you.").

I believe this to be true, also. The difficult times in life are opportunities to grow in your faith in God, and to share this with friends and family. emoticon

Yes, when I look back at my life, there are things I "should" have done better. Yet, those experiences have made me who I am now and have also had good side effects.

Great Blog. I have realized that every pain filled experience has helped make me what I am today....a much stronger person, who I have finally learned to be proud of for all that I have been through.

When I'm faced with hard or difficult times, I realize that my problems are small compared to what others may be going through.

I believe that we are born with a purpose in life and when that purpose if fulfilled we leave this world.
I believe your blog is true, also.
