Well It has been a 2 weeks since I have been back hardcore at training. It’s going AWESOME!
On Sept 21/13 I am competing (I should use that word loosely, it’s a fun race) in Mud Immortal, a 5k race/obstacle course in the MUD!!! FUN! I am on a team with some fairly fit peeps who work out all the time, one who recently lost a lot of weight and its doing amazing with his progress, and another who is fit in general and is a tough chick! One might think this might be very intimidating but I am so motivated I can’t even explain it!
I am a person who has always been inspired by people. I never let my “ego” get in the way of letting someone inspire me. Sure, The lady on the treadmill next to me has legs of steal and looks like she wouldn’t even need to run the 10k daily to stay in shape, but to me, how motivating is that? When you can work a hard 7 hour day and still manage to squeeze time in to your busy home life to hit up the gym for a run for an hour, EVEN when you look uber hot regardless and don’t NEED to lose weight? A lot of people I know would just rag on this Super Hot Fit Lady, saying “Makes me sick, she doesn’t even have to work out”. What I think? “If she is doing it, looking how she does? I certainly have to up my game!”
A lot of times at the end of my workday the last thing I want to do is go to the gym, knowing I have to cook supper afterwards, probably have to cart my kids around to their friends houses, all the motherly responsibilities that a mom has. I usually go home first but I feel once I’m there I’m not leaving. It’s almost easier to just go straight to the gym and get it over with… But the problem with that is I am STARVING by the time I get home and just want to eat right away. SO this week I embarked on something new. Going to the gym BEFORE work in the morning... It’s been working out good so far.
Monday I went at my work gym, my husband had to be at work for 7 so I just ditched him and came straight to work. I did 30 min on the elliptical ( HIIT SYTLE) , showered and went on to work. Then I had a great evening. Tuesday I went to my usual gym in Atlantic Place at 6am! This one was a little tougher, seeing how I was distracted by a Moose on the loose who was running all over downtown and ended up jumping into the Harbour! Unfortunately, even with rescue efforts of two men who were in a boat heading out to sea, the Moose did not make it. I still worked out for 25 min on the elliptical but I found it really tough to get going without coffee. Plus I forgot my water bottle and the sun rising over signal hill blinded me to no end! Wednesday I went to the gym afterwork, EXCELLENT Leg Workout, yesterday I went swimming and relaxed because it was VERY Humid and sticky out, this morning I went to my work gym and had a great HIIT session. Even got to catch an old episode of “saved by the bell” while I worked out!
So that is that... Let’s see what next week will bring!
